Dr. Nahed Taher

Dr. Taher is the founder and CEO, in addition to her capacity as an executive director of the Gulf One Investment Bank. By holding this position, she is the first Female CEO of a Gulf Investment bank. Prior to that Dr. Nahed was a managing partner of Compass consulting, a financial advisory company. Before that she was a Chief Economist and Chairman of Risk and Portfolio Management Committee at the National Commercial Bank (NCB) in Jeddah.
She represented the Saudi government, the private sector, and chamber of commerce in many high level international business and banking events.
Dr. Nahed was ranked by FORBES magazine as no. 72 of the 100 most powerful women in the World. She also received recently the award of Businesswoman of the year 2006 by HH Prince Hamid Al-Nihayyan, In addition, she received the award of ¡°Saudi Businesswoman of the year 2007¡± by HRH Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
Dr. Nahed M. Taher holds dual Masters Degrees in Financial Economics and a PhD in Monetary Economics from Lancaster University in the UK.

Current responsibilities at The RisKontrol Group GmbH (2000-present)
Dr. Kreuser, building on 24 years of financial modeling at the World Bank, founded The RisKontrol Group GmbH in 2000 for the development of state-of-the-art tools and techniques for and consulting on the strategic analysis and management of financial risks due to uncertainty in interest rates, exchange rates, commodity prices, macro-economic factors, etc. associated with asset/liability portfolios. He is responsible for designing and building tailor-made, enterprise-wide, integrated, and open risk management models for strategic asset/liability management and for providing services in risk education, risk reviews, research, maintenance, and client partnership programs. Some of the main clients are central banks, ministries of finance, pension funds, and insurance companies.
International Reserves Management Advisor for the IMF (2000-present)
Dr. Kreuser, under the aegis of the International Monetary Fund, provides expertise (advisory, technical, and training) to central banks on reserve management, the development of risk management capabilities, and on sovereign risk including asset and liability management.
World Bank experience (1974-1998)
Dr. Kreuser has held several positions at the World Bank during his tenure from 1974-1998 including head of Modeling Support for Finance and Projects and head of the Quantitative Analysis Consulting Group. He led a project, funded by the World Bank Research Committee, for developing and applying state-of-the-art tools for asset/liability management in developing countries for central banks and ministries of finance. He has developed and implemented portfolio models, cash flow models, industrial planning models, health sector models, economic models, and other project sector models. He has provided the modeling leadership for several World Development Reports. He has worked on projects in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and China. He has also advised the Finance Complex on modeling applications on derivatives and regularly taught internal workshops on modeling applications in economics and finance and an international workshop on risk management for central banks and ministries of finance.
Dr. Kreuser co-developed and implemented one of the first dynamic asset and liability models under uncertainty for risk analysis that was applied in the real world. It was regularly used in weekly strategy meetings in the mid-seventies in the World Bank's Treasurer's Department for the management of their fixed income portfolio of around $US 6 billion.
Other experience
Dr. Kreuser is an Adjunct Professor of Operations Research at George Washington University. Since 1982, he has regularly taught a graduate course on the Applications of Linear and Nonlinear Optimization with applications in Economics and Finance. He redesigned that course and established a modeling laboratory at the university to support it. Dr. Kreuser received acclaim for his teaching methods and the course has since become a regular part of the curriculum. He has regularly taught international workshops on the theory and application of modeling in finance, projects, and economics, in Washington, DC; Munster, Germany; and Madrid, Spain. He also taught a workshop on strategic-integrated asset and liability management in Cologne, Germany. Dr. Kreuser has developed numerous analytical tools and techniques for finance and economics at the University of Wisconsin and at the IBM Scientific Center.

Moorad Choudhry

Moorad Choudhry is Head of Treasury at KBC Financial Products in London, the derivatives and convertible bond trading arm of KBC Bank N.V., Brussels. He joined there from JPMorgan Chase Bank, where he was a vice-president in Structured Finance Services sales and marketing. Prior to that he was a sterling proprietary trader in the Treasury division at Hambros Bank Limited, and a gilt-edged market maker and money markets trader at ABN Amro Hoare Govett Limited. He began his City career at the London Stock Exchange in 1989.
Moorad is Visiting Professor at the Department of Economics, London Metropolitan University, a Visiting Research Fellow at the ICMA Centre, University of Reading, a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Mathematical Trading and Finance, Cass Business School, a Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute and a Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management. He was educated at Claremont Fan Court School, University of Westminster, University of Reading, Henley Management College and Birkbeck, University of London.
Moorad has published in the field of finance and is author of The Bond and Money Markets (Elsevier 2001), Structured Credit Products (John Wiley 2004), The Credit Default Swap Basis (Bloomberg Press 2006) and Bank Asset and Liability Management (John Wiley 2007), among others.

Toby has eleven years experience working with Global pension funds, reserve funds and sovereign funds. During his career he has worked with many investors in the Middle East, Europe and Africa in helping them manage the risks and costs of restructuring their portfolios.
Toby joined Citi in 2006 as head of EMEA Transition Management Sales & Relationship Management.
Toby was previously a Vice President and head of UK & Ireland Transition Management at State Street. Whilst at State Street Toby was involved in completing one of the largest transitions in the world involving over 25 billion pounds in assets and 900 portfolios. In total the transition lasted 18 months. More commonly Toby works on transitions of portfolios that take from 4-8 weeks from initial meeting through to completion.
Prior to joining State Street Toby spent six years in the fund management industry working with Morgan Stanley Investment Management on the institutional side.
He studied Economics and Philosophy at Southampton University. Toby is an FSA approved person and holds the Investment Management Certificate.

Daniel Smaller, as Managing Director, Sales & Distribution. Daniel has over 25 years of relevant experience in the Financial Services Industry and has been involved in the MENA region for over 11 of those years.
Prior to committing to Algebra Capital, Daniel moved to Dubai 2 years ago to set up and manage Deutsche Bank's Asset Management business in the MENA region. Daniel worked for Deutsche Bank for the last 8 years in Hong Kong and London where he was Head of Global Sales and Head of Emerging Market Sales, respectively.
He has been active in Emerging Markets since 1989 when he took over as Head of Citibank's Asian Equity operation in London. In 1992 he initiated Lehman Brothers' Emerging Market effort in Equities and was the first to introduce Institutional Investors to the MENA region in 1993. He completed the first privatization in Morocco in that year and assisted in the development of the MENA equity markets throughout the early 1990's. In 1994 he moved to UBS to Head up Sales for EMEA and continued to be very active in the Middle East. Daniel started his Financial Career in Bahrain in 1982 working for Citibank Treasury; he continued to work for Citibank in London, Zurich and Sydney from 1985-1989 in the fields of Equity, Debt, Mezzanine Finance and Private Equity.
Daniel holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and International Relations from the School of International Service at American University in Washington DC and an MBA from the University of Chicago in International Finance.

Mohieddine Kronfol as Managing Director, Asset Management. Mr. Kronfol has over 10 years of relevant experience in financial services including a 3 year track record in regional fixed income markets and founding roles in 3 start up businesses.
Prior to committing to Algebra Capital, Mohieddine was a founding partner at HYPHEN, a Beirut based asset management company. He negotiated one of the region's first prime brokerage accounts and set up the infrastructure to trade 3 global hedge funds and manage a fund of hedge funds. HYPHEN was also on the Investment Committee of Quilvest MEA, a subsidiary of Quilvest which managed over USD 6 billion in assets.
Prior to joining HYPHEN, Mohieddine was the Head of SHUAA Capital's Debt Asset Management Department as well as the Fund Manager of The Arab Income Fund (TAIF). TAIF traded emerging market and exotic debt as well as local and foreign currency debt in the MENA region.
Mohieddine was also Head of SHUAA Capital's Capital Markets department were he managed investments globally in FX, commodity, interest rate and equity markets, including related cash, futures and options securities. Products included leveraged CLN notes on regional credits, alternative investments with UBP (today the 2nd largest hedge fund platform), commodity mining and exploration portfolios as well equity and commodity linked capital guaranteed products.
Prior to joining SHUAA Capital in August 2000, Mohieddine was a Senior Associate at Middle East Capital Group (MECG), a Beirut based investment bank with a regional focus. At MECG (1996-2000), Mohieddine worked on all legal, structure, financial and IT phases of an auto loan securitization mandate (together with the IFC). He also traded Arab equities, fixed income, structured products (Collateralized Bond and Loan obligations in Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan), and was a licensed broker on the Beirut Stock Exchange. Mohieddine traded international convertible bond issues and positioned MECG as one of the most active regional players in that space.

Shehadeh was a key member of the senior executive team which manages all aspects of this US$12 billion project including Development, Design & Construction, Leasing & Marketing, Finance & Asset Management, Human Resources as well as Operations. Shehadeh has been particularly instrumental in the development of Dubai Festival City's hospitality offerings, including the Four Seasons, The W, Intercontinental as well as the Crowne Plaza Hotels. Shehadeh also structured and raised over $2BN in bank loans for this mega project.
Shehadeh started his career with The Chase Manhattan Bank in New York, by completing the one year credit training programme and ended his five year tenor at the bank as an Associate in the corporate finance division. Shehadeh then moved to Beirut and established the Middle East operations for Hard Rock Caf¨¦.
Prior to joining Al Futtaim, Shehadeh was Chief Financial Officer of HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's Kingdom Hotel Investments.
Shehadeh holds a Masters Degree in International Business from the Institut D'Etudes des Relations Internationales in Paris. In 2001, he successfully completed a general management executive programme at Harvard Business School.

Mikko brings 25 years of global management experience in building technology businesses for new markets, including over a decade of successful venture capital investing in both the US and in Europe. Now he is a second generation expatriate in the Middle East.
His hands-on experience on more than 20 boards includes executing strong corporate governance, strategic planning, turn around management, cross border and cross continent divestments, IPO planning as well as in developing effective boards and management teams.
Mikko was a partner with 3i, a global leader in private equity, in the US and a founding partner of SFK Finance in Europe, which was acquired by 3i. He has held operating positions in developing new businesses at Nokia, Unisys and as a Managing Director of 3D Computing, in addition to being a consultant with McKinsey.
Mikko received his MBA from the Helsinki School of Business in Finland. He holds a BBA from Portland State University, Oregon, and has attended executive education at Harvard Business School.

Dr. Nasser Saidi
Chief Economist

Dr. Nasser H. Saidi is the Chief Economist of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Executive Director of the Hawkamah-Institute for Corporate Governance at the DIFC. He served as the Data Protection Commissioner from January to August 2007.
He is a former Minister of Economy and Trade and Minister of Industry of Lebanon (1998-2000). He was the First Vice-Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon for two successive mandates, 1993-1998 and 1998-2003. He is co-chair with the OECD of the MENA Corporate Governance Working Group and established the Lebanon Corporate Governance Task Force. He was a Member of the UN Committee for Development Policy (UNCDP) for two mandates over the period 2000-2006, appointed as a member in his personal capacity by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
He has a recent book, ¡°Corporate Governance in the MENA countries: Improving Transparency & Disclosure¡±, and a number of books and publications addressing macroeconomic, capital market development and international economic issues in Lebanon and the region. His research interests include macroeconomics, financial market development, payment systems and international economic policy, and ICT.
Dr. Saidi has served as economic adviser and director to a number of central banks and financial institutions in the Arab countries, Europe and Central and Latin America. Prior to his public career, Dr. Saidi pursued a career as an academic, as a professor of economics at the Department of Economics of the University of Chicago, the Institut Universitaire de Hautes Etudes Internationales (Geneva, CH), and the Universit¨¦ de Gen¨¨ve, and was a lecturer at the American University of Beirut and the Universit¨¦ St. Joseph in Beirut.
He holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Rochester in the U.S.A, a M.Sc. from University College, London University and a B.A. from the American University of Beirut. |

Paul Harrison

Paul joined ABN AMRO Asset Management (AAAM) in March 2007 as Director ¨C Middle East & Africa. His role involves responsibility for the firm's clients and prospects across the Middle East and Africa region, and he also shares additional responsibility for the firm's central bank and sovereign wealth fund clients globally.
Between 2003 and 2007 Paul was Head of Equity Portfolio Management at GIB(UK) Ltd, a UK investment bank which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bahrain-based Gulf International Bank. His responsibilities in this role involved overseeing the team of portfolio managers responsible for institutional client portfolios, representing the team and its products to existing and potential clients in the Middle East and Africa, and assisting with the external marketing efforts of the firm. Paul was a member of GIB(UK)'s Asset Allocation Committee and had additional responsibility for the firm's multi-strategy equity hedge fund. Between 1998 and 2003 Paul filled various portfolio management roles on the equities desk at GIB(UK), including managing the indexation process and the convertible arbitrage and merger arbitrage strategies.
Paul is a CFA charterholder and is an associate member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals. He holds a BA(Hons) degree in Economics from the University of Durham, UK.

He started his career in 1998 with General Electric Corporation, where he participated in the company's 2-year Financial Management Program. During his tenure, Saqib gained experience in global financial planning & analysis and corporate development/M&A. Prior to joining Abraaj, he worked at Spring Capital Partners, a US-based private equity fund focused on middle-market mezzanine investments. His responsibilities included reviewing business plans, conducting industry research and company due diligence, building valuation models, and assisting portfolio companies on strategic issues. Saqib also has experience at McKinsey & Co, where he was a Summer Associate in the Dubai, UAE office.
Saqib holds a Masters in Business Administration from The Wharton School and a Masters in International Affairs from The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The George Washington University. Saqib is a Fulbright Scholar and was awarded a research grant in 2003 to conduct a study of the private equity industry in Egypt.

Win Phromphaet is Fund Manager and secretary to the Investment Committee of the Social Security Fund, Thailand's largest institutional investor, where he has been working for more than 5 years. He is responsible for managing local currency bonds, real estate investment trusts (REITs) and offshore investment of the old-age pension fund with AUM of US$10 billion. He is also assigned Deputy Spokesperson for the Social Security Office. Early this year, he was awarded Outstanding Government Officer 2007 from the Prime Minister.
Win holds a BA in Economics (International Program) from Thammasat University and an MBA from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, Netherlands, sponsored by the Royal Thai Government. He is a CFA Charterholder and Scholarship Chair of CFA Society of Thailand.
