After the success of the first Regional Capital Markets Conference in 2007, The Malaysian Investment Banking Association (MIBA) is pleased to be hosting the second edition of the event on the 27-28 February 2008 in Kuala Lumpur.
This year's focus will be on attracting investors from Asia and the Middle East. We are confident that the conference will offer an effective platform to link these investors to many interesting projects and investment products in Malaysia and the region.
This year's event will feature top bankers and regulators from the region to speak on topics relating to structured products, securitisation, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and infrastructure financing and securitisation, fund management, Islamic finance, and hedge funds.
I was delighted to chair the first Regional Capital Markets Conference hosted by MIBA and Pinnacle in KL last year. The sessions were very timely and involved some of the best speakers/panelists from Asia and the Middle East. Islamic Finance is likely to provide the impetus that is already bridging the Middle East and Asian interests.
Recent times have shown the global reach of investors from these regions. Judging from the sponsor and speaker list, I am optimistic that this year’s conference will continue to provide an excellent platform for a dialogue on capital markets issues in the region and beyond.
